STATEMENT: Growing up in a strict family with rules and monotonous routines, I immersed myself in the worlds of fantasy literature. Stories like "Alice in Wonderland", "The Chronicles of Narnia," and dark fairy tales were my escape.
I love the theatricality of haute couture where costume is a way to dramatically reinvent yourself. Plus the staged portraits of women from art history by artists like Ingres, where appearance is everything.
I paint as a way of self-liberation, to resist society’s imposed roles and expectations.
